In a Cargo Systems Messaging Service (CSMS) bulletin published on January 16, 2024, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) announced an update to their hydrofluorocarbons (HFC) filing tip sheet.

The latest update clarifies that HFC filing requires either an American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) number or a Chemical Abstracts Service Registry (CAS) number, not both.

The HFC filing requirements were deployed to the Automated Commercial Environment (ACE) on January 16, 2024.
