In a Federal Register Notice (FRN) scheduled for publication on August 25, 2022, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) announced the upcoming meeting of the Commercial Operations Advisory Committee (COAC), to be held in person in Chicago, IL, with a remote option via webinar, on September 14, 2022.
According to the notice, the COAC meeting will include updates on the following working groups:
- The Intelligent Enforcement Subcommittee: Intellectual Property Rights, Anti-Dumping and Countervailing Duties (AD/CVD), Bond, and Forced Labor Working Groups;
- The Next Generation Facilitation Subcommittee: One U.S. Government, Automated Commercial Environment (ACE) 2.0, and E-Commerce and 21st Century Customs Framework Working Groups;
- The Rapid Response Subcommittee: Broker Modernization, USMCA, and Domestic Manufacturing and Production Working Groups; and
- The Secure Trade Lanes Subcommittee: Partnership Programs and Industry Engagement, Export Modernization, In-Bond, and Remote and Autonomous Cargo Processing Working Groups.
The COAC advises the Secretary of Homeland Security, the Secretary of the Treasury, and the Commissioner of U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) on the commercial operations of CBP and other related Department functions.
