On February 11, 2021, U.S. President Joe Biden issued an Executive Order regarding “Blocking Property with Respect to the Situation in Burma.”

In a press release, the U.S. Department of the Treasury outlined the sanctions deemed appropriate against “those who played a leading role in the overthrow of Burma’s democratically elected government.” Those sanctions include the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) adding ten individuals (all current and former Burmese military officials) and three Burmese business entities to OFAC’s Specially Designated Nationals (SDN) List.
