CBP to Automate Enforcement of Late Entry Type 86 Transactions

Posted by Timothy Miller on 3/22/24 5:00 PM

In a Cargo Systems Messaging Service (CSMS) bulletin published on March 21, 2024, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) announced an update to the Automated Commercial Environment (ACE) that will enforce the requirement to “file Entry Type 86 transactions prior to or upon the arrival of the cargo.”

If an Entry Type 86 transaction is filed after the cargo has arrived, the entry will be automatically rejected. The goods will be held until a different entry is filed, such as an Entry Type 01 or 11.

This ACE update will be deployed on April 13, 2024.
