Shanghai Covid-19 Update: April 18, 2022

As of 10:00am April 18th, Shanghai reported 24,529 positive cases (9,245 new cases for 4/15 - 4/17) and 352,986 asymptomatic cases (61,336 new cases for 4/15 - 4/17) since March 1st, 2022.

Starting from 12:00am on April 2nd, people leaving Shanghai need to show a negative antigen test result within 24 hours and a negative nucleic acid test within 48 hours.

On Apr 11th, the city government announced its classified follow-up prevention and control measures based on the rounds of citywide nucleic acid test results and risky levels. Local areas will be classified as a “locked-down area”, “controlled area” or “ precautionary area”. Details on the 3 areas have been published except for Pudong district, which is still pending for official announcement by each street/town separately.

On Apr 16th, the Shanghai government issued the first guidelines for businesses to start returning to work. There are 666 companies on the white list. It is made clear that risk management and closed loop management against this round of the COVID-19 pandemic are the main responsibility of these organizations.
