USTR Announces Section 301 Tariff Increases for Certain Products

In a Federal Register Notice (FRN) published on December 11,2024, The Office of the United States Trade Representative (USTR) announced the increase of Section 301 duties for imports of tungsten products, wafers, and polysilicon from the People’s Republic of China (China).

The tariff rates for solar wafers and polysilicon will increase to 50 percent, while the rates for certain tungsten products will increase to 25 percent.

These modifications conclude the statutory review of the Section 301 investigation of China’s Acts, Policies, and Practices Related to Technology Transfer, Intellectual Property, and Innovation.

These tariff increases will go into effect on January 1, 2025.
