On February 22, 2024, the United Kingdom (UK) announced new sanctions targeting Russia and entities supporting the war in Ukraine.

These new sanctions target more than 50 individuals and entities linked to manufacturing munitions, the import and manufacture of machine tools and electronics used in the Russian defense sector, and Russian private military companies. These sanctions also target elements of the Russian transportation sector, diamond companies, and metals production companies.

Additionally, the UK has updated its Common High Priority Item List with five new codes under tier 4B, which concern Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machine tools for the manufacturing of complex high-precision metal components. The Common High Priority Item List is made up of restricted goods identified as being critical to Russia’s ability to create weapons.
