U.S. and EU Issue Joint Statement on Trade and Technology Council

On December 5, 2022, in a press release, the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative (USTR) and the European Commission issued a joint statement on the U.S.-EU Trade and Technology Council (TTC) meeting held in Washington, D.C. According to the press release, “Through the TTC’s ten working groups, we are supporting sustainable, inclusive economic growth and development, promoting a human-centric approach to the digital transformation, and ensuring that international norms and the international trade rulebook are respected and reflect our shared values.”

The statement outlines the key outcomes from the meeting, which include:

  • Joint initiatives with Jamaica and Kenya;
  • Cooperation on new and emerging technologies; and
  • Building resilient semiconductor supply chains.
