U.S. and Ecuador Sign New Protocol on Trade Rules and Transparency

On December 8, 2020, in a press release, the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative (USTR) announced the signing of a new Protocol on Trade Rules and Transparency. The Protocol updates the U.S.-Ecuador Trade and Investment Council Agreement to include four annexes on Customs Administration and Trade Facilitation, Good Regulatory Practices, Anticorruption, and Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises.

According to the press release, the U.S. and Ecuador are working “to promote increased trade, including by promoting reform of Ecuador’s import licensing regime.”
