Peru Issues Decree to Modify Customs Laws and Regulations

In a notice published in El Peruano, the Peruvian government announced Supreme Decree 198-2024-EF which contains several modifications to the current customs regulations intended to streamline procedures.

The Supreme Decree covers a broad range of changes that include changes to in bond rules, post entry procedures, fines and penalties, physical inspections and several other modifications to help with supply chain efficiency and data accuracy

This decree will enter into force in four stages:

  • Stage 1: October 25, 2024;
  • Stage 2: November 11, 2024;
  • Stage 3: December 31, 2024; and
  • Stage 4: June 30, 2025.
