On October 30, 2019, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) issued Cargo Systems Messaging Service (CSMS) #40449785, announcing that warning error messages will be generated for data provided incorrectly in HS-7 Box 6 – for vehicles.  The incorrect data will not cause the entry to be rejected, but CBP advises filers to note the errors for future submissions.

The code is scheduled to be in the CERT environment on November 1, 2019 and in the PROD environment on December 14, 2019.
