On July 11, 2022, the government of Mexico issued press release Number 43, announcing the first round of negotiations for a free trade agreement with the United Kingdom (UK). The first round of negotiations will last until July 15, 2022. The meetings fulfill the commitments established in the Trade Continuity Agreement between Mexico and the United Kingdom, which requires negotiations aimed at achieving a Free Trade Agreement. The UK is Mexico’s 16th largest trading partner and ranks 8th as a foreign direct investment source.
