On September 29, 2017, US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) issued Cargo Systems Messaging Service (CSMS) #17-000623, updating the local port closures for the San Juan field office in the aftermath of Hurricane Maria.
CBP announced that “commercial trade operations is resuming for the San Juan Area Ports 4909 (San Juan) and 4913 (Air Cargo) with limited communications.”
CBP also announced that the following ports will remain closed until further notice:
- AGUADILLA, PR - 4901
- FAJARDO, PR - 4904
- MAYAGUEZ, PR -4907
- PONCE, PR – 4908
The below Centralized Examination Stations are available:
- Island Storage Warehouse – L513
- Jose G. Flores Warehouse – N744
The CES Almacenes del Castillo will remain closed until further notice
CBP also stated in the CSMS that, “Due to the extensive damage on communications systems, lack of electricity and postal service in the island, the port is extending additional days without the assessment of liquidated damages for any entry summaries and payments due from September 29 through October 6, 2017.”
