FCC Ends the Requirement for Form 740

Posted by Matt Schmitt on 11/2/17 3:55 PM

In a Federal Register Notice issued on November 2, 2017, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) removed the requirement for the FCC Form 740 - RF Devices when filing import declarations. The Form 740 is still required for certain peripheral devices as mentioned in 47 CFR 2.1202(e).

The FCC determined that the Form 740 did not deter illegal importations of RF Devices as there is now a wider availability of product and manufacturer information including information Customs and Border Protection (CBP) makes available to the FCC. The FCC still retains the requirement for responsible compliance of the imported device and requires supporting documents upon request from FCC.
