Executive Order Issued on Iranian Sanctions

On January 10, 2020, U.S. President Donald Trump issued Executive Order “Imposing Sanctions with Respect to Additional Sectors of Iran.”  This Order imposed blocking sanctions on property of persons determined to operate in the construction, mining, manufacturing, and textile sectors of the Iranian economy, subject to other statutes, regulations, orders, directives, licenses issued pursuant to that order.  In addition, the Order suspended the entry of such persons into the United States “as immigrants or nonimmigrants.”

The Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) of the U.S. Department of Treasury made the following Iran-related additions to its Specially Designated Nationals SDN List:

  • Six individuals;
  • Twenty entities; and
  • Vessel Hong Xun (Call sign D5GG9).

Additionally, the entries for one company and two individuals were modified.
