On January 28, 2021, in Cargo Systems Messaging Service (CSMS) #45979837, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) issued a reminder to the trade on the January 2020 compliance advisory addressing concerns that products used to disinfect surfaces included claims to be effective against SARS-CoV-2.

EPA highlights the requirement that pesticides must be properly tested and registered. The CSMS also notes, “It is unlawful to distribute or sell any pesticide or device which is misbranded, including any false or misleading claims made on the labeling.”
