On December 10, 2021, in a Federal Register Notice (FRN), the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) issued significant new use rules (SNURs) under the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) for 45 chemicals that were subject to premanufacture notices (PMNs). This would require notifying the EPA at least 90 days before beginning any manufacturing or processing for the SNUR.
The affected chemicals include:
- Organic sulfonate compound (generic);
- Sulfonium, triphenyl-, trifluoro-hydroxy-(triheterosubstitutedalkyl)alkanoate (1:1) (generic); and
- Triarylsulfonium alkylestersulfonate (generic).
The rule will be effective on February 8, 2022.
