On June 27, 2022, in a Federal Register Notice (FRN), the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) issued significant new use rules (SNURs) under the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) for 21 chemical substances that were subject to premanufacture notices (PMNs). This would require notifying the EPA at least 90 days before beginning any manufacturing or processing for the SNUR.
The affected chemicals include:
- Phosphonic acid, dimethyl ester, polymer with alkyl diols (generic);
- Alkane, bis(alkoxymethyl)-dimethyl- (generic); and
- 1-Butanol, reaction products with 2-[(2-propen-1-yloxy)methyl]oxirane.
The rule will be effective on August 26, 2022.
