On July 10, 2019, the U.S. Department of Commerce (DOC) announced in a Federal Register Notice (FRN) they are seeking comments on the trafficking of counterfeit and pirated goods through on-line third-party markets, along with recommendations on reducing them.

All comments must be submitted online through the Federal eRulemaking Portal at http://www.regulations.gov and should use Docket No. DOC-2019-0003. The Department of Homeland Security will use the comments in preparation for a report to the President, as part of the Presidential Memorandum on “Combating Trafficking in Counterfeit and Pirated Goods.”
