On February 4, 2022, in a Federal Register Notice (FRN), the U.S. Census Bureau (Census) announced the withdrawal of the Advanced Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (ANPRM) from September 17, 2020 regarding the “impact of the removal of the Electronic Export Information (EEI) filing requirements for shipments between the United States, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.” The current EEI filing requirements will remain in place for shipments between the U.S., Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. This decision was made after reviewing the comments on the ANPRM and discussions with stakeholders.
