CBP Updates Minimum Security Criteria for CTPAT

On December 19, 2019, in Cargo Systems Messaging Service #41052241, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) released an updated on the new minimum security criteria (MSC) for Customs Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (CTPAT) members.

Two new criteria were added:

  • Members must have a code of conduct in place; and
  • Members must initiate their own internal investigation of a security breach as soon as the incident is brought to light.

These requirements are effective immediately.  The CTPAT portal is in the process of being updated, and the new security profile is expected to be ready by June 1, 2020.
