CBP UFLPA Region Alert Effective March 18

Posted by Kelsay Calvaruso on 1/18/23 5:00 PM

On March 18, 2023, the Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act (UFLPA) region alert enhancement previously announced in November 2022 by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) will be deployed to the Automated Commercial Environment (ACE). The alert will “provide an early notification to importers of goods that may have been produced in the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region (XUAR) which would be subject to UFLPA restrictions per H.R. 6256.” The Information Notice provides details on the new validations, required actions by trade users, and additional resources on UFLPA. The validations will require a valid postal code for manufacturer parties in the cargo release as well as in Manufacturer Identification Code (MID) creation for parties from China.
