CBP Transitions Drawback to the Centers of Excellence and Expertise

On August 13, 2021, in Cargo Systems Messaging Service (CSMS) #49065924, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) announced the transition of the drawback program from the Ports of Entry to the Centers of Excellence and Expertise (CEEs). The drawback offices will be managed out of five CEEs, and each CEE will cover two industries. The transition does not affect “the processing of claims, transmission of claims, and submission of ruling and privilege application requests.” The transition is effective as of August 15, 2021.
