CBP Requires Online Filing for Organization Broker License Applications

Posted by Timothy Miller on 9/30/26, 5:00 PM

In a Cargo Systems Messaging Service (CSMS) bulletin published on September 25, 2026, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) announced that all Organization Broker License Applications must be submitted electronically through the eCBP online portal effective September 30, 2026. Applications submitted by mail, email, or hand delivery on or after that date will be returned to the applicant.

Users can access eCBP using the same login.gov account previously used to apply for the Customs Broker License Exam. CBP also noted that organization license applications submitted through eCBP will enter the existing application processing queue and will not receive any priority in processing.
