CBP Releases Guidance on Section 301 Trade Remedies

On July 3, 2018, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) issued updated guidance on the Section 301 Trade Remedies in Cargo Systems Messaging Service (CSMS) #18-000419. The guidance provides information on several topics, including:

  • Products Covered by Section 301 Action;

  • Use of tariffs from chapter 98 of the Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the U.S. (HTSUS);

  • Information on the use of Trade Preference Programs;

  • Drawback claims;
  • Foreign Trade Zones;

  • Product Exclusions;

  • Where to direct further questions.

The Section 301 Tariffs are scheduled to go into effect on July 6, 2018.
