CBP Publishes FAQs on Xinjiang Withhold Release Order

On February 12, 2021, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) published Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) on the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region (XUAR) Withhold Release Order (WRO). The WRO is against cotton and tomato products produced in China’s XUAR for forced labor concerns.

The affected products include:

  • Apparel;
  • Textiles;
  • Canned tomatoes; and
  • Tomato sauce.

The WRO was announced in a press release on January 13, 2021, and CBP began detaining these products at all U.S. ports of entry at that time.
