On May 22, 2019, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) provided in Cargo Systems Messaging Service (CSMS) #19-000260, instructions for importers to request an extension on the liquidation date for entries covered by pending Section 301 exclusion requests.

CBP provides the following options for importers and filers who have entries covered by pending product exclusion requests that may liquidate prior to the decision on the exclusion request:

  • Request an extension of the liquidation date and file a Post Summary Correction no later than 15 days prior to the extended date of liquidation;
  • File a protest within 180 days following liquidation and notate the pending exclusion decision as the basis for the protest.

CBP directs importers to send any questions on extending the liquidation date or filing protests to otentrysummary@cbp.dhs.gov.
