On September 11, 2017 U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) released Cargo Systems Messaging Service (CSMS) #17-000554 and 17-000555 providing additional guidance to exporters and advising the trade on the status of the ports in the wake of Hurricane Irma.
For Exporters:
- Any export cargo that can be diverted from these ports is encouraged. Electronic Export Information (EEI) filings should try to be amended with updated port and date of export
- Determine if any damage occurred prior to amending an EEI
- EEIs should try to be amended if any changes to quantity or value of the export
- “If the amendment is not successful, please contact Outbound Enforcement at OFO-Export-Cargo@cbp.dhs.gov and provide the following information: the ITN the license number, the corrected quantities and value for each controlled commodities (including the ITAR data elements).”
Port Status:
- Tampa – 1801: Currently closed
- Orlando – 1808: Will be updated
- Miami Seaport – 5201: Will open on September 12, 2017
- Key West – 5202: Closed until further notice
- Port Everglades – 5203: Will open on September 12, 2017
- West Palm Beach – 5204: Anticipating opening on September 12, 2017. Will provide update if any changes
- Miami International Airport – 5206: Will open on September 12, 2017
