CBP Issues Guidance on Movement of Forced Labor Detained Cargo for Storage

On August 3, 2023, in Cargo Systems Messaging Service (CSMS) #57200992, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) issued guidance on the movement of forced labor detained cargo for storage. According to the CSMS, “importers or their authorized filers may submit a request to the Port Director at which their cargo is detained.” The approval is at the discretion of the Port Director, and instructions on procedures are included in the CSMS.
