On April 1, 2022, in Cargo Systems Messaging Service (CSMS) #51475475, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) issued guidance on the Section 232 tariff rate quota (TRQ) on steel products from Japan. The steel products entering under the TRQ will not require Section 232 duties. Products entering after the TRQ fills will require Section 232 duties under HTS 9903.80.01.

The quota period opened April 1, 2022. Imports of steel derivatives from Japan no longer require Section 232 duties, also effective April 1, 2022.
