On December 20, 2022, in Cargo Systems Messaging Service (CSMS) #54427266, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) published the procedures and requirements for importations made during the 2023 calendar year and thereafter under the Craft Beverage and Modernization and Tax Reform Act of 2017 (CBMA). The administration of CBMA transfers to the Department of the Treasury’s Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB) effective January 1, 2023.

The guidance addresses subjects including:

  • CBP and TTB processing of CBMA claims;
  • Completing CBMA claims; and
  • Submitting the required documentation.

Questions on CBMA can be directed to CBMA@cbp.dhs.gov.
