CBP Issues Guidance on Harmonized Tariff Schedule Modifications

On January 26, 2022, in Cargo Systems Messaging Service (CSMS) #50833017 and #50834787, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) issued guidance on the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) modifications that are effective January 27, 2022. The guidance specifically addresses Section 201 duties and Section 301 China trade remedies. The CSMS messages outline the HTS classification changes that will be impacted by the modifications, and they provide instructions on reporting the correct Chapter 98 or 99 HTS.
