CBP Announces Updated FSIS Procedures for Certain Fish and Fish Products

On July 6, 2017 U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) released Cargo Systems Messaging Service (CSMS) #17-000393 on behalf of the Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) regarding new procedures for imported Siluriformes fish and fish products.

According to the CSMS, all shipments of imported Siluriformes fish and fish products […] must be presented at an Official Import Inspection Establishment for reinspection by FSIS personnel prior to entering U.S. commerce.”

Shipments imported on or after August 2, 2017 will be required to comply with the FSIS final rule. To facilitate compliance, importers and brokers should communicate closely with inspection establishments and FSIS District Offices.
