CBP Announces Extension of Section 321 Data Pilot

On February 16, 2023, in a Federal Register Notice, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) announced the extension of the Section 321 data pilot. CBP is expanding the pilot to include optional data elements, such as tariff number and party information, to “enable CBP to test further the feasibility of collecting advance data from individuals or entities that may possess the most relevant information relating to an e-commerce shipment’s supply chain.” The results from this pilot will inform rulemakings and CBP initiatives in the future. The pilot expansion also allows for additional participants. The pilot will run through August 2025.
