CBP and FDA Update ACE Flagging

On April 21, 2017 U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) in conjunction with the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) released Cargo Systems Messaging Service (CSMS) #17-000227 announcing an update to the Partnering Government Agency (PGA) flags for FDA.

According to the CSMS, the change includes certain tariffs which in the legacy ACS system had flags of FD0 (FDA not required) will now be, “getting ACE PGA requirement updates to have either no FDA flag, FD1 (FDA May Be Required) or FD2 (FDA Required).”

Included in the CSMS is a spreadsheet containing the FDA HTS codes and the flags that will now be associated to them.
