ACE Portal Adds SMS Multifactor Login Authentication Option

In a Cargo Systems Messaging Service (CSMS) bulletin published on September 14, 2026, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) announced that is adding Short Message Service (SMS) as a multifactor login authentication option to the Automated Commercial Environment (ACE) Portal.

After users log into the ACE Portal, they will be given the option to register a mobile phone number to receive a login security token via SMS. Once registered, users can log in with either an email or SMS authentication method.
