On April 6, the Texas Governor and Department of Public Safety announced secondary inspection checkpoints are being implemented on all commercial crossings into the United States. This affects all commercial vehicles coming from Mexico. The announcement stated these were to begin on Wednesday, April 6th.

The Texas Department of Public Safety will start conducting enhanced commercial vehicle inspections at 20 international crossing locations throughout Texas. Checkpoints have been set up to stop and inspect commercial vehicles coming from Mexico, as an effort to curb illegal immigration and drugs into the state. This is expected to slow traffic from Mexico into Texas for cross border shipments.
