Puerto Rico Update: Sept. 29, 2017

Relief efforts are underway in Puerto Rico but the island has had difficulty distributing supplies due to lack of licensed trucker drivers available, fuel shortages, and communication outages.

The Governor of Puerto Rico has reached out to the community for assistance regarding the lack of licensed truckers available.

If there is someone that can help they should call 469-401-9603. Once the phone number is called, the person calling will receive a text message asking for information, including license information. Following that they will be contacted on how they can assist.

The airport is still functioning with limited power and most courier services are non-operational on the island.

Customs has provided an update on Puerto Rico’s Local port closure. Ports 4909 (San Juan) and 4913 (Air Cargo) are resuming trade operations with limited communication. All other remaining ports will remain closed until further notice due to the severity of the damange from the hurricane.

The port is also extending additional days without assessment of liquidated damages from September 29 - October 6.

Our office in San Juan remains non-operational. Our focus is on restoring systems and we are hoping to have systems restored early next week.
