A tentative deal has been reached today between the rail unions and the railroads averting a rail shutdown on Friday, September 16th that would have crippled the country’s supply chains.
The tentative deal was a result of 20 hours of intense negotiations brokered by the Biden administration. The unions will still need to vote on the agreement.
Some railroads had halted transportation of dangerous goods, and Amtrak is working on restoring the long-distance trains it had planned on canceling.
We continue to monitor the situation as it evolves.
