A total of four unions have rejected the contract and are back at the bargaining table. These unions are SMART-TD (with respect to only one of its contracts), BMWED, BRS, and IBB.
The four unions have agreed to align their status quo periods until 12:01 a.m. on December 9, 2022.In order to prevent a nationwide rail service disruption, Congress may need to intervene should the unions without ratified agreements decide to strike.
