The Union representing longshore workers at the Port of Montreal gave the Maritime Employers Association notice of a general strike, commencing Monday, April 26 at 07:00.
Should the strike happen, no container vessels will be calling the Port of Montreal, and containers at the Port of Montreal will not be accessible for pick up, or open for returns.
It is anticipated that the vessels will be diverted to Halifax and St. John where berths would be made available to diverted ships as free slots open up.
