Update on India Union Budget: February 2, 2023

System changes have been completed and Bill of Entry filing services have resumed.

The Union Budget of India will be presented on February 1, 2023, which is expected to detail the rates and rules/procedures for Customs, Central Excise & GST effective from February 2, 2023.

Filing of Import Customs Entries (Bill of Entries) on ICEGATE (India Customs EDI Gateway) will stop from 5 pm on February 1, 2023, until the budgetary changes are updated in ICEGATE, and will resume on or after February 2, 2023.

Import Customs Entries (Bill of Entries) already filed before February 1, 2023, will be processed as per the rules including those related to reassessment issued under the Union Budget. Consequently, there may be delays in filing/clearance through Friday, February 3, 2023.

Respective EI CHB teams will work closely with clients to plan the filing of the entries as appropriate. There will be no stoppage of filing and processing of Export Customs Entries (Shipping Bills.)
