In a Presidential Proclamation published on August 18, 2026, the White House announced that it was pausing the 50% Section 338 tariffs on certain Canadian dairy, alcoholic beverages, and motor vehicle products.
These tariffs were originally scheduled to go into effect on August 19, 2026, but are now delayed to August 22, 2026, due to ongoing negotiations with Canada to “remove the discriminations” against U.S. dairy, alcoholic beverages, and motor vehicle products.
