White House Announces U.S.-Japan Strategic Trade and Investment Agreement

On July 23, 2025, the White House published a fact sheet with details on a Trade and Investment Agreement between the U.S. and Japan. 

According to the fact sheet, imports from Japan will be subject to a 15% base tariff rate, intended to "help narrow the trade deficit with Japan". Additionally, the Agreement states that Japan will create additional access to markets such as agriculture, energy, and automobiles.
