White House Announces Delay in Decision on Section 232 Investigation for Automobiles

On May 17, 2019, President Trump announced in a Presidential Proclamation the decision to delay action on the Section 232 investigation into imported automobiles and certain automobile parts for 180 days while the U.S. Trade Representative (USTR) continues negotiations with the European Union (EU) and Japan.

According to the proclamation, the USTR will update the president at the end of the 180 days or earlier if further action is required.
