USTR Seeks Comments on U.S.-Taiwan Initiative on 21st-Century Trade

On June 7, 2022, in a Federal Register Notice (FRN), the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative (USTR) issued a request for comments on the U.S. Taiwan Initiative on 21st-Century Trade. This initiative was launched on June 1, 2022, with a goal to “develop concrete ways to deepen the trade relationship between the United States and Taiwan.” USTR is seeking comments on issues including:

  • “General negotiating objectives for the contemplated agreements;
  • Customs and trade facilitation issues; and
  • Digital economy-related matters.”

Comments are due July 8, 2022.
