USTR Reviews Mexican Factory for Collective Bargaining Freedom

In a press release published on May 18, 2026, The Office of the United States Trade Representative (USTR) announced that it had invoked the Rapid Response Labor Mechanism (RRM) in the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) to investigate that workers at Faurecia Sistemas Automotrices de Mexico, S. de RL de C.V. (Faurecia) are being denied the right to freedom of association and collective bargaining.

This investigation was initiated after the Interagency Labor Committee for Monitoring and Enforcement (ILC) received a RRM petition from an independent Mexican union. This ILC will review the petition and has asked Mexico to review is the workers are being denied the right to freedom of association and collective Bargaining. Mexico has 10 days to agree to conduct a review and 45 days to complete the review if it is agreed to.

The United States has suspended liquidation of unliquidated entries of goods of the facility under investigation.
