USTR Releases 2017 Copyright and Trademark Notorious Markets List

In January 2018, the Office of the United States Trade Representative (USTR) released the 2017 Out-of-Cycle Review of Notorious Markets, highlighting copyright piracy and trademark counterfeiting.

The USTR stated, “The List highlights 25 online markets and 18 physical markets around the world that are reported to be engaging in and facilitating substantial copyright piracy and trademark counterfeiting.”

While the list does not contain all of the markets reported, it does help raise public awareness and helps governments prioritize Intellectual Property Rights enforcement efforts. A comprehensive list will be issued in the annual Special 301 Report at the end of April.
