USTR Issues Exclusions on Section 201 Solar Products

On September 19, 2018, the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative (USTR) issued exclusions of particular products from the Section 201 safeguard measure on solar products in a Federal Register Notice (FRN).

In addition to the products originally excluded from the Section 201 safeguard measure, the USTR added eight additional exclusions to U.S. note 18 to subchapter III of chapter 99 of the Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States. The descriptions of the excluded items include such aspects as the wattage, length or dimensions, voltage, and certain characteristics like batteries, peripheral ports, or usage.

The exclusions will apply to shipments received on or after September 19, 2018 at 12:01 a.m. Eastern Standard Time.
