In a press release published on February 3, 2026, the Office of the Unites States Trade Representative (USTR) announced that legislation had been signed that reauthorized the African Growth and opportunity Act (AGOA).

The legislation will reinstate the AGOA trade preference program through December 31, 2026, and will have a retroactive effect to September 30,2025.

USTR stated that it is working with the “relevant agencies” in the coming days to make the necessary changes to the Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States to accommodate the reauthorization of AGOA.
